The right mattress is the cheapest health upgrade there is: you spend a third of your life on it. Three things decide the choice: the type (memory foam or springs), the firmness and the size. For most people the right answer is medium-firm, in the biggest size the room allows, with the type decided by how you sleep and how warm you run.
Memory foam: a hug for shoulders and back
Memory foam takes the shape of your body, spreads the pressure and absorbs movement: if your partner tosses and turns, you will not know it. It is ideal for side sleepers and for anyone who wakes with stiff shoulders. It does hold a little more warmth, so for Cyprus summers choose a model with a breathable cover and air the bedroom. See the Aphro Angel Memory Foam orthopaedic mattress.

Springs and hybrids: coolness and support
Mattresses with independent springs let air circulate inside, so they sleep cooler: a real advantage from May to October in Cyprus. Hybrids combine a spring base with foam layers on top, meaning coolness and contouring together. If you want the top of this category, try the Sealy Aurora mattress.
Firmness: medium-firm wins for most people
Firmness should follow your sleeping position and body weight, not fashion. The quick check: lie on your back and slide your palm under your waist. A big gap means too firm, no room at all means too soft. The full logic is in our guide to the medium-firm mattress.
Size: do not squeeze your sleep
Two people sleep truly comfortably from 160x200 upwards. If the room takes 180x200, king size is a difference you feel every night. Measure so that at least 60 centimetres of walkway remain around the bed, and choose the biggest mattress that leaves that margin.
When a mattress should be replaced
When it visibly sags where you sleep, when you wake up stiff at home but sleep fine elsewhere, or when it turns eight to ten years old. A waterproof protector from day one and a head-to-foot rotation every two to three months visibly extend its life.
Frequently asked questions
- Is memory foam too warm for Cyprus?
- It holds more warmth than springs, but with a breathable cover and an aired room it sleeps comfortably. If you run very warm, a hybrid is the cooler route.
- Can I try them in person?
- Yes, at our Limassol showroom, by appointment. Lie down in your real sleeping position and stay a few minutes.
- How do I buy one?
- With cash at a permanent discount, or in interest-free instalments of up to 12 months, no bank involved. Delivery is free across Cyprus and almost everything is in stock.
